Centre Street Bridge Lions

Calgary, AB, Canada · 2017

The lions of Calgary's Centre Street Bridge are among the city's most recognizable civic landmarks. Decades of exposure had soiled the surfaces and opened cracks and voids across the sculptural forms, calling for a careful, materials-sensitive conservation program.

Our team cleaned the sculptures using a gentle CO₂ (dry-ice) method that lifts soiling without abrading the surface, then carried out epoxy and void-span repairs to cracked and missing areas. The substrate was consolidated with a silane treatment to re-establish strength, and the lions were finished with a colour-matched Keim mineral coating — a breathable, durable system suited to the exposed outdoor setting.
